PED (Pressure Equipment Directive)/DGRL (Druckgeräterichtlinie):
There are 9 charts to plot the pressure against the volume of a vessel or the diameter of the pipe. In order to use charts, the following four data are required:
- Liquid or gas phase:
If vapor pressure > 0.5 + atmospheric pressure, the phase will be vapor.
2. Group 1 for dangerous, explosive, flammable, toxic and oxidizing medium/Group 2 for non-dangerous medium
3. Maximum allowable pressure
4. The volume of vessel or diameter of pipeline.
Level of hazard:
SEP, Sound Engineering Practice, (Article 4 paragraph 3) < Category I < Category II< Category III < Category IV.
The higher the level of hazard, the more extensive the level of quality assurance required during the design.
The design pressure of a vessel should be the vapor pressure of a vessel full of the medium at the set point of switch. It means that if you have a vessel having a temperature switch at 100C. The design pressure should be the vapor pressure of medium at 100C.
